How to get into trouble poetry book cover

Well, we did it again. We published a poetry book in collaboration. When I see “we,” I mean myself and three other women poets, Carolina Hospital, Holly Iglesias and Maureen Seaton. Writing this book was not the same as “writing a book;” it was a garage band practice. It was being on a soccer team. It was setting up a tent. Designing a garden. Being a family.

One member of the family has passed, Maureen Seaton, but I know she is here with us as much as she is away from us. The book is one last sprinkle of magic from Maureen.

We will be reading at Books and Books in Miami soon to promote the book, and it will be the first time the band will be together without one of it’s founding members. We will make a space for her regardless, and spread as much magic as we can…all around.

Book description: How To Get Into Trouble is an inventive and moving poetry collection by the collaborative group Tres Abuelas y Una Mama (Carolina Hospital, Nicole Hospital-Medina, Holly Iglesias, and Maureen Seaton). This is the second collection by these nationally recognized and diverse group of poets  These collaborative and solo poems use playful and thoughtful artistry to delve into themes as diverse as time, infallibility, motherhood, democracy, and love. The book demonstrates once again the strength and creativity that can emerge from a shared spirit.
